The Maldivian Skies Welcome the 60th Seaplane of the TMA fleet
Completing its maiden voyage from Canada, the De Havilland DHC-6 Twin Otter made its debut in the waters. Soaring the sky this 6 Twin Otter has become the 60th seaplane in Trans Maldivian Airways (TMA) fleet. The evening of 16th November 2022 marked a milestone in TMA’s legacy.
As the end-of-the-year peak season approaches TMA is gearing up to meet the projected passenger number of almost a million. This on-time addition will prove to be vital in earning and preserving the trust of the visitors of the Maldives as their transport provider by meeting the availability and raising the standards and services further. With 2023 just around the corner that will open doors to so many new properties across the country, this fleet expansion will help TMA evolve in the right direction.
Noovilu Seaplane Terminal in VIA becoming the new getaway to the Maldives and the new home to seaplane operations with twice the operational capacity has allowed TMA to expand its fleet.
TMA has specialized in point-to-point connectivity across the country from Velana International Airport since its inception in 1993. Currently, TMA carries out flight operations to more than 80 resorts located in 14 various atolls spread across the country. TMA has earned the title of the World’s Largest Seaplane Operator with over 30 years of service in the industry.
